Financial Support For Higher Education Students

Depending upon the Higher Education course you want to join, there may be financial help available. The support available differs whether you're a Full-Time or a Part-Time student. If you're joining a Foundation Degree, you'll be taking an undergraduate course. Students joining a Teaching in The Lifelong Learning Sector: PTLLS and PG / Cert Ed in Post Compulsory Education and Training (incorporating DTLLS) course are eligible to apply for the same funding as undergraduate students.

Part-Time Undergraduate Students

As a Part-Time student, you could get financial help through the Fee Grant, Course Grant and other sources. All you need to do is to obtain a form (PTG1), complete and return it to Student Finance England and your entitlement* will be assessed according to your circumstances. If you are starting your course after August 2010, the PTG1 application forms should be available from July/August 2010.

Full-Time Undergraduate And Teaching in The Lifelong Learning Sector: PTLLS and PG / Cert Ed in Post Compulsory Education and Training (incorporating DTLLS) Students

The main sources of help available to Full-Time students are Student Loans, Grants and Bursaries. Depending on your circumstances, you may be able to get extra help**. In order to have your funding in place by the time you come to College, you need to apply for your funding no later than 25 June 2010.
The quickest and easiest way to apply for funding is through Student Finance England’s online service - go to www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance and follow the links.
Paper applications are also available; ask for a PN1 form from the Careers Team in Client Services (at the College’s main reception).
